You have a survey saying that for each pound of a fresh muscle, your body will burn an extra 60 calories per day. Add five pounds of young muscle and you will mechanically burn an additional 31 pounds of fat in a year…
Increasing your metabolic rate which can be defined as the rate at which the calories are burnt down while resting can be done by developing that extra amount of muscles. It’s essential that this value must be greater than the 50 – 100 calorie estimate. But it’s not so.
In surveys that have tracked changes in muscle mass and metabolic process, it might appear that the metabolic rate of muscle is somewhere in the region of 50-100 calories per pound.
Few similarly treated adult males who were taken for a study, were reported with an increase in the metabolic rate around 263 calories per day. They also developed a fat free mass of 2.8 pounds in the first one week.
In the next 10 weeks, the adult males lost about 1.8 pounds of fat free mass. From this, it’s clear that the muscle development and the metabolic rates are interrelated.
When we divide the increasing resting metabolic rate which we have seen as 60 calories by the developed 2.9 pounds of fat free mass, we get the estimate of 20.7 calories per pound.
It’s not for sure that the change in resting metabolic process was because of the extra muscle, or whether it was due to measurement error. The control group in this survey did no exercise, yet their resting metabolic rate was increased by 31 calories per day.
Research Workers think that mechanisms other than the step-up in fat-free mass (such as changes in the activity of the sympathetic nervous system) are partly responsible.
The abdomen fats are not dead tissues. They can develop the leptin and the cytokines which could affect the metabolism of your body. Based on some estimates, it’s found that the metabolism of the fat is 2 calories per pound.
Foremost you need to have a stomach fat loss program. This program will definitely make your body to burn up more fats after the exercising hours. The people undergo exercises with light weight and more number of repetitions of toning exercises. But these workouts can’t cause post exercising effects on metabolism.
Secondly, you must make sure that you drop off weight from the fats and not from the muscles, while doing resistance workouts along with dieting.
